‘TRIBES OF EUROPE’ DELIVER THE SONG OF THE SUMMER. IT’S SULTRY, SEXY, AND STRAIGHT OUT OF THE SIXTIES
OUT today: the slow-burn psychodrama duet that Dusty & Mark Lanegan never made, but thankfully, Tribes of Europe and Barbara Stretch have done.
And the new single, ‘Burned’ also marks an important milestone for Integrity Records as the 100th release for the label that’s been home to Kat Bjelland, Million Dead (Frank Turner), Reuben, Miss Black America, Ida Wenøe & many more.
BARBARA STRETCH – former member of 70’s Pride pioneers Spoilsports (featured in Channel 4’s recent documentary – Freedom: 50 Years of Pride), delivers arguably her finest vocal to date on this sublime, slow-burn, space-pop psychodrama, while lead-Tribesman MARTIN comes out of the backroom to duet in the chorus.
The Ely ‘Fallen Angels Choir,’ led by Max Taylor (Creepy Neighbour,) adds layers of sublime polyphony with Chris Taylor’s masterful mix smouldering away in all the right places.
Describing the thinking behind the single, Martin Said, “’Burned’ is about dealing with the consequences of bad decisions. Maybe you got in the wrong car with the wrong person, maybe you shared a secret you should have kept to yourself.
“You wake up to the fact your safety net is gone, or maybe was never really there. Some received wisdom you grew up with is proved wrong. How do you deal with that? Can you come out the other end stronger for the experience?”
Barbara Stretch (Spoilsports, The Vernons, Jam Today): Main vocal.
Martin Elsey (The Traceys): Chorus vocal, guitars, keyboards, chains, bass.
Andy Gangadeen (Massive Attack, Chase & Status, Jeff Beck): Drums
Harry Bennett (Clor, Creepy Neighbour): Percussion
The Fallen Angels: Backing vocals
Produced: Chris Taylor & Martin Elsey
Final mix: Chris Taylor
Engineered: Chris Taylor
