SOMETHING (EXTRA) FOR THE WEEKEND?

NORTH WALES psychedelic indie outfit ‘HOLY COVES,’ have today released their new single ‘Grey’ via prolific North Wales Label, ‘Yr Wyddfa Records’.

Following on from the successful ‘The Hurt Within’ and ‘Desert Storm’ singles, ‘Grey’ shows off Scott Marsden’s ability to write a genuine, killer tune, enhanced by Holy Coves distinct sound, and coupled with a hazy indie pop filter and dramatic, post-punk flourishes.

MIKE SMULL’s ‘The Godzilla Attacks Tokyo Kamikaze Blues Band’ have just released a new album, ‘Making Music For No One,’ now available on all streaming services.

“This album was different for me because it was written entirely on acoustic guitar and recorded with mostly acoustic guitars,” said Smull. “I recorded it over the course of about six months, mostly in my dining room.

“I also have my friend from England, Matt Kik, (Storm of Crows), on the album. He gave me the title of the song, ‘I Don’t Want To Wake Up Dead In America,’ through a Twitter post. He said it was a silly title he had written in a high school notebook. I told him it was a great title for a song, and he said I should go ahead and write it. So, I did.”

SONGWRITER and producer, ‘HENNING,’ out of Northampton, Massachusetts, has just released his, ‘The Dream Is To Dream’ album.

The musician also performs with, Gentle Hen, The Fawns, and Polaris.

“The album is a dreamy journey into life over the past few years,” he said.

“Disillusionment in the way the world works and with those around us leading to questions about what is important, what is worth keeping, how do we live? A celebration of the natural world, the consistency of the seasons, those moments, and people that we hold dear.

“This is wandering music; three instrumental dreams anchor the rest of the songs which float atop howling and sliding lap steel guitar. The songs are their own people, but the album is the family. Meet one at a time or dive into all of them at once. It’s not a movie, but it’s almost a movie. There’s an arc. A beginning and an end. We start off questioning where we are going, and we end up where we started. At home.”

Wow. OK. Confused?
