SET FEUX release third single from debut album

THE slow-burner ‘Young and Lonely,’ is the third single from Toronto-based SET FEUX’s debut album.

Diana Planche (Set Feux) has mixed dreamy, sometimes bittersweet, nostalgic pop, with lush harmonies, ambient synths, guitars, and sax not only on ‘Young and Lonely,’ but also on her self-titled album, due April 19.

“I wrote ‘Young and Lonely’ during the first pandemic lockdown,” said Planche.

“My mother-in-law, who has Alzheimer’s had come to live with us and her memory loss was progressing quite rapidly. It was really difficult witnessing her memory decline and I began thinking about the impact memory has on our identity. The song explores the self that is left when our memory fades and poses the question, are we still the same person without our memories?”

Musically, Set Feux’s songs reflect her many influences including Debussy, Dusty Springfield, Wilco, Kate Bush, Lauryn Hill, and Wilco – but whilst Planche allows those influences space to breathe on the album, she clearly maintains a voice, and style, of her own.
