LondonPeaky’s ‘Single Of The Year’
JESSIE REID’S ‘A Little Closer’ is LondonPeaky’s 2023, Single Of The Year.
Included on Spotify’s coveted ‘Most Beautiful Songs in The World’ playlist, the raw and breathtakingly beautiful indie-folk love song also features French-born, Easymess.
Speaking exclusively to LondonPeaky.com earlier this year, Jessi explained, “Ultimately, it’s a love song, but quite an unhealthy love song.”
“It’s about feeling a bit lost and unsure of yourself in a relationship and knowing things aren’t right. Despite knowing this, you still want to feel a sense of comfort and love and to be held, ‘a little closer,’ to hold on to some sort of hope, for a little longer.”
And eager to build on the successes of 2023, the young singer-songwriter has plenty scheduled for the New Year.
“I remain humbled by people wanting to listen to my songs, both live and on streaming platforms,” she said.
“For 2024 I have a new single, ‘Let Your Love Run Cold,’ coming out in a few weeks. I have more new songs demo’d and plan on releasing another single in the spring, followed by a new EP in the autumn.
“I’d say my particular highlights this year would include selling out headline shows in Shrewsbury and Birmingham, ‘A Little Closer’ reaching nearly half a million streams in less than a year, having two million streams overall in 2023, and two of my songs used on TV in ‘Love Island’ and ‘Made In Chelsea.’
“Finally, I’m hoping to build on this year’s festival appearances and am thrilled to have been invited by BBC Radio to record a session at the famous Maida Vale studios.”
