‘With The Wind’ (out 25/8) is the new single by Ida Wenøe, the first to be taken from the Danish artist’s third studio album, ‘Undersea’, coming via Songcrafter Music on October 6th, 2023.

“When the heart lies heavy in your chest, and you long for lightness, the thought of leaving it in the hands of nature is alluring, even if it means giving up all self-control,” she said. “Because even freedom comes with a price. As does love. With string instruments intertwined like overgrown wild rose hip bushes, ‘With The Wind’ is searching for that place of peace.”

Written and recorded last winter in two old beach houses on the west coast of Jutland, the new songs see Wenøe, return to the hushed, simple intimacy of her acclaimed debut LP, ‘Time of Ghosts’, with nature, wild water and the range of human emotion lyrically centre stage, the sounds of the trees, ocean, birds and stormy weather all making cameo appearances.

The album was produced by Wenøe, mixed by Dennis Ahlgren (Tina Dico, Teitur) and mastered by Icelandic wizard, Sigurdor Gudmundsson, and sees her personal take on contemporary folk-noir blend beautifully with more traditional influences, augmented with the personality of contributions from Scottish musicians Hal Parfitt-Murray (strings) and Samantha Whates (flute, backing vocals).
