‘COME POSSO RACCONTARE’ Savoretti’s Italian tribute
JACK SAVORETTI teases his all-Italian speaking album ‘Miss Italia’ (May 17) with the release of new single, ‘Como Posso Raccontare.’
“’Como Posso Raccontare’ is the first Italian song I ever wrote,” said Savoretti. “My whole life I’ve struggled to explain my Britishness to Italians, and my Italian-ness to the British. This is probably as close as I will get.”
For ‘Miss Italia,’ Savoretti went on a journey that saw him hone his craft even further, and in a completely different language. He sourced a who’s who from the Italian contemporary songwriting scene, a group of fellow musicians who he could collaborate with and learn from and in doing so, produced a tribute to his late father.
“My father was the anchor that tied me to Italy, the connection to my roots that I felt I was at risk of losing without him,” he added.
“So, I went back to school. I didn’t want to imitate Italian music, I wanted to make it my own, combining everything I had learned over almost twenty years of experience from working in America, England, and Italy, merging Anglo-Saxon singer-songwriting with Italian to create something unique. I first had to learn to write in Italian before making my album in Italian.”
