CHEYANNE SUMMER
INFLUENCED by the sounds of The Beach Boys and Patsy Cline, Canadian songstress Cheyanne Summer is celebrating the recent release of her third single, ‘Circles.’
Following on from ‘iSpy’ and ‘Haunt Me,’ Circles’ is without doubt the soundtrack to this year’s heatwave – you just don’t know it. Yet.
As we’ve come to expect, Cheyanne’s sultry stripped back vocals once again call for our immediate attention, her cast of insanely accomplished musicians gently shadowing her with a perfect mix of folk and R&B, providing a subtle drumbeat, an impeccably understated guitar riff and the hauntingly beautiful piano grooves of Paul Wierdak.
Originally from the verdant city of Kelowna in Canada’s British Columbia, Cheyanne journeyed 400 miles east and now lives and works out of Calgary.
“Although Calgary is nothing like Kelowna, it has definitely allowed me to open myself up creatively and dive into my artistic side. I really want to give my dream an actual shot!” explained Cheyanne.
“My music represents growth, strength, resilience and a sense of power. ‘Circles’ was inspired by feeling like I can’t break free from how people view me and how they think I’m supposed to be. Music has helped me through a lot, so I hope my music can help others.
“My favourite part of being a musician is sharing my music with everyone. I love when people reach out to me and tell me how either the song made them feel or how they connected to my lyrics.”
Cheyanne’s debut single, ‘Haunt Me,’ was quickly followed by ‘iSpy,’ which featured Canadian hip-hop artist, Tinywiings, another song tailormade for hood down, long summer drives to the beach and beyond.
And further, potential collaborations have not been ruled out.
“If you asked me who I’d like to work with in the future, at this point in time, it would have to be Kacey Musgraves or Cam. I just love how raw and emotional their music is. Every song tells a story that you can get completely lost in and find some way to connect to. I also love their use of live instruments.”
Cheyanne’s debut EP is scheduled for release later this year, in the meantime ‘Circles’ is available now from all music platforms, released by Peach Jam Records Inc.
